Missouri mom went to police station after killing her 2 young children, sheriff says

In Missouri, a mother has been arrested and charged in connection with the devastating deaths of her two young children. Ashley Parmeley, aged 36 and hailing from Pevely, walked into the Festus police department at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, informing officers that she had shot one child and drowned the other.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the 9-year-old girl, who had been shot, inside a vehicle outside the station. Despite their efforts to administer life-saving measures, they were unable to save her.

Following this, authorities from the Festus Police Department received information suggesting that the second victim, a 2-year-old boy, could be located at a nearby resort. Deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office swiftly responded, discovering the child in a body of water.

A deputy swam to the child, bringing him ashore and attempting life-saving measures, but sadly, the boy was pronounced deceased.

Sheriff Dave Marshak, speaking at a news conference, indicated that both children are believed to have been killed at around the same time on Tuesday morning. Fortunately, a third child was found unharmed.

The suspect has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old son and is presently being held at the Jefferson County Jail without bond. Investigations into the death of her 9-year-old daughter are ongoing, with additional charges anticipated.

The sheriff’s department extended their deepest condolences to the families of the victims and all the first responders affected by this tragic event.
